The first training courses held aimed at the cultural agents from the Dominican Republic and Haiti

As part of the "Reinforcement of the professional abilities of the cultural agents from the Dominican Republic and Haiti" project, the first training courses aimed at cultural agents of both countries were carried out in February 2013. These courses are part of the training cycle that will be taught in Santo Domingo and Port au Prince until June, and whose aim it to make the sector's agents aware of the role that culture has in the development of a territory, how it increases working opportunities in the cultural sector by promoting self-employment, consolidates business capacity in small cultural companies and improves conditions for cooperation between the agents of both countries.

The cycle includes 3 courses, one of which has already been undertaken, where people will be trained on the cultural sector of both territories, the design of a cultural project and on marketing of cultural organisations. Agents from both countries will attend the courses, a total of 20 per territory. This first course has had different professionals and experts of the sector from both locations as its teachers, and was carried out between the 18th and 22nd February in Santo Domingo and between 25th February and 1st March in Port au Prince.

This training is one of the activities from the "Reinforcement of professional abilities of the cultural agents from the Dominican Republic and Haiti" project, financed by the European Union through the programme "Invest in people programme and Oriental Association Cultural programme: Reinforcement of abilities in the cultural sector," and has members from Multilateral, and the local organisations of the Red Dominicana de Culturas Locales, and Volontariat pour le Developpement d’Haiti.
